Carbon Removal for Sale: What’s Real, What’s Hype, and Who Pays?
Carbon removal is no longer a distant or speculative idea — it is already being bought and sold. From biochar and enhanced weathering to direct air capture and ocean-based approaches, a growing number of platforms now offer individuals, companies and governments the chance to “remove” emissions.
But what is actually available today? At what price, in what units, and with what confidence? How do we distinguish rigorous, durable carbon removals from weak offsets and marketing claims? And as these markets develop, who should ultimately foot the bill — consumers, corporates, or the state?
For March’s Earth Set event, we’ll bring together voices from across climate policy, science, finance and industry to explore the fast-emerging carbon removal market: where innovation is genuinely happening, where the risks and uncertainties lie, and how this space is likely to evolve over the coming decade.
This will be a moderated, high-signal evening conversation, designed for investors, practitioners and policymakers grappling with carbon removal not as a theory, but as a real and growing part of the climate landscape.
This event is supported by Clean Air Task Force (CATF) , a global, non-ideological climate organisation focused on accelerating the development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies.
📍 Location: Ohme offices, 5th Floor, Wellington House, 125–130 Strand, London WC2R 0AP
🕡 Time: 6.30-9.00 pm (panel discussion 7.00-8.00pm followed by drinks & nibbles)

Greenlash: Understanding Climate Change Opposition
Climate action is no longer contested mainly on technical or economic grounds. Increasingly, resistance is political, cultural and emotional — shaped by media narratives, fossil-fuel interests, geopolitics, and voter anxiety around cost, fairness and identity.
For this February Earth Set event, we bring together voices from across climate policy, public opinion and conservative environmental thinking to examine why opposition to climate action is becoming more organised and mainstream — and what this means for policy, investment and public trust.
The discussion will feature Luke Shore of Project Tempo, bringing UK public-opinion data and insights into shifting sentiment; Sam Hall, Director of the Conservative Environment Network, exploring climate policy through a conservative lens; and a policy expert from Clean Air Task Force (CATF).
The conversation will focus on understanding resistance rather than dismissing it — and on how climate leaders might engage more effectively across divides.
