Earth Set Workshop: Problem Solving Night

No panel. No presentations. No slides.

Just a room full of smart, experienced people helping each other solve real problems.

We'll break into small groups of around four to five people and everyone will have the opportunity to bring a challenge they're currently wrestling with. It might relate to a startup, investment, policy project, organisational challenge, fundraising round, career decision, community initiative or something else entirely.

Each person will have dedicated time to explain their problem, with the group then offering ideas, perspectives, questions and practical suggestions. The aim isn't necessarily to find the perfect answer, but to tap into the collective experience of the room and uncover new ways forward.

Hosted by Fiona Howarth, Founder of Earth Set and CEO of Octopus Electric Vehicles, this interactive workshop draws on the expertise, creativity and generosity of the Earth Set community to help tackle real-world challenges.

    Format

    • Small breakout groups of approximately 4–5 people

    • Each participant will have the opportunity to present a challenge and receive feedback from the group

    • Followed by drinks, networking and continued discussion

Earth Set Film Night: Burning Skies

For our inaugural Earth Set Cinema evening, we’ll be screening Burning Skies, a powerful programme of five short films exploring oil, gas, methane and flaring across the world, from the North Sea to Iraq and North Dakota.

The evening includes Last Gasp starring David Suchet, alongside documentaries and short films examining the human, political and environmental realities of fossil fuel extraction. Though originally created independently, together the films form a striking and coherent programme — five perspectives on one of the defining industries of our time.

Following the screening, there will be a live panel discussion and audience Q&A with filmmaker Tom Cholmondeley and specialists working on methane emissions, flaring and the future of oil & gas.

Expect a thoughtful, engaged evening exploring one of the fastest ways to tackle global warming: reducing methane emissions from fossil fuel production.
