Books that change how we think about climate.

Earth Set brings together people who care about climate, innovation, and ideas — and the authors who help us see them differently. We feature writers whose work sparks action as well as thought, using books as starting points for the conversations and collaborations that drive a net-positive future.

Upcoming Bookclub

  • The Earth Set Bookclub is a series of small, thoughtful suppers with authors whose ideas shape how we think — and act — on climate, technology, and society. Held a handful of times each year, these intimate, ticketed dinners bring together a small group of Earth Setters for open conversation and good food — no ongoing commitment, just join the ones that speak to you.

  • June Earth Set - Plastics Without Borders: Inside Us

Journalist and author Saabira Chaudhuri is joining the Earth Set plastics panel at SXSW London on Tues, 2nd June.

Her book, Consumed, has been described as “Ultra-Processed People for plastics” tracing how big brands and petrochemicals made disposability feel normal, aspirational and inevitable.

    * ~99% of plastics today are made from fossil fuels

    * On current trends, plastics could account for ~20% of global oil demand by 2050

    * Since the 1950s we’ve produced ~9.2 billion tonnes of plastic — most of it now waste

Saabira pulls together all the threads: marketing, convenience culture, regulation, health, and the systems that got us here in the first place, as well as the bogeyman of recycling.
